Song of the Sea

Song of the Sea

Tomm Moore, the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind the visually inventive 2009 fantasy The Secret of Kells, directed and conceived the story for this animated adventure inspired by the Selkie, a sea creature from Celtic mythology. On an island off the coast of Ireland, a young boy and his silent sister embark on a dangerous journey to uncover the secret of their absent mother. With its fantastical water-colored imagery and evocative score by Bruno Coulais (Coraline), composed in collaboration with the Irish group Kíla, this Best Animated Feature Film nominee is a singular adventure from one of animation’s most distinctive visionaries.
