    • When will my membership start?

      Memberships begin immediately upon signing up and remain valid for twelve (12) months from the signup date.

    • Can I upgrade my membership?

      Yes. We would love to assist you in upgrading your membership. Please call +1 323.930.3003, email museummembership@oscars.org, or stop by the Winkler Welcome Center in the Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby for assistance.

    • Can I still submit my membership payment through the mail?

      Yes. If you prefer to make your membership contribution by mail, please download an application form [PDF].

    • I visited the museum and would like to become a Museum Member. Can I use my general admission ticket(s) toward my membership?

      Yes. You can apply the cost of your general admission ticket toward any membership level within seven (7) days of your visit to the museum. Please note: cost of one (1) ticket may be used toward an Individual-level membership, and the cost of two (2) tickets may be used toward Dual-level memberships and above. For assistance in converting your tickets into a membership, please call +1 323.930.3003, email museummembership@oscars.org, or visit the Winkler Welcome Center in the Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby.

    • What does my membership support?

      Your membership supports exhibitions, programs, education, and community outreach programs. All or a portion of your membership is tax-deductible as allowed by law; we will provide this information with your receipt.

    • I just joined the Academy Museum. How do I receive my membership card?

      You will receive a link to your digital membership card(s) via email immediately after you have joined and your membership has been processed.

    • What is the digital member card and how does it work?

      To reduce the Academy Museum’s carbon footprint, Academy Museum Membership cards are now digital.  This small change enables us to invest more of your contribution into the programs you love. Your digital membership card is located at the bottom of the welcome email you’ll receive upon signing up for a membership.  If you can’t find your card, you may request a new one by emailing us at museummembership@oscars.org or calling +1 323.930.3003

    • How many membership cards do I get?

      Individual-level membership receives one digital membership card; dual-level membership and above receive two.

    • How many people can visit using my membership?

      Individual-level membership receives complimentary admission and full benefits for one named cardholder. Dual-level membership and higher receive complimentary admission and full benefits for two named cardholders. If you do not wish to name your second cardholder, you can bring a guest, but they must be accompanied by the primary cardholder.

    • Do children receive complimentary admission?

      Yes, visitors 17 years old and younger are granted free museum admission in perpetuity through a generous grant from the George Lucas Family Foundation in honor of Sid Ganis.

    • I'm a Dual-level Member or above. Can the second person on my membership visit without me?

      Yes. Dual-level membership and up provides complimentary admission for two named cardholders. Please present membership cards for admission. If you do not wish to name your second cardholder, you can bring a guest each time you visit, but they must be accompanied by the primary cardholder.

    • When will I receive renewal notices?

      You will begin to receive renewal notices approximately four (4) months prior to your membership’s expiration date.

    • If I renew my membership before it lapses, when will the new membership begin?

      Your renewed membership begins on the same day that your current membership expires.

    • I recently upgraded my membership. Does my expiration date change?

      When upgrading during your renewal window, you pay the price of the new membership level and your expiration date will be extended a year from your original expiration date. Your new benefits will begin immediately, however.

      If you’d like to upgrade prior to your expiration window, please contact the membership department at +1 323.930.3003 or museummembership@oscars.org. You pay the difference of the new membership and your new benefits begin immediately. Your expiration date stays the same.

    • Does the museum offer discounted general admission tickets for guests of Museum Members?

      Yes. All Members receive up to two discounted general admission tickets with each visit ($5 off per ticket). Members must log in to their account online and select their member ticket before the discount for the guest is reflected. As a reminder, memberships and complimentary member tickets are non-transferrable.

    • I am a Museum Member; do I still need to reserve timed tickets?

      No, Museum Members do not need an advance reservation when visiting the museum. Advanced reservations are encouraged for screenings, special programs, and holidays.

    • Is my museum membership the same as an Academy membership?

      No. An Academy membership is granted by sponsorship, not application, and is limited to film artists working in the production of theatrically released motion pictures. For more information on Academy membership, please visit oscars.org/about/join-academy.

    • If my Charter membership lapses, may I renew anytime and still be considered a Charter Member?

      No. Charter Members have a one-year grace period from their expiration date to maintain their Charter Member status. If your Charter membership lapses and you wish to renew at a later date after the one-year grace period, you will need to purchase a new membership. You will no longer be considered a Charter Member.

    • Is my membership refundable?

      No. Museum memberships are nonrefundable and nontransferable. All benefits subject to change. If you would like to cancel your membership, please contact Member Services at +1 323.930.3003 or email museummembership@oscars.org.

    • I no longer have my digital membership card. Can I still visit the Museum?

      Yes. Present your photo ID at the box office for admission. You can also contact Member Services at museummembership@oscars.org or call +1 323.930.3003 to request a replacement.

    • How do I update my contact information?

      The fastest and easiest way to update your contact information is by logging into your account or contacting Member Services at +1 323.930.3003 or museummembership@oscars.org.
