Repeated Event: May 3–May 17, 2025

Color in Motion Gallery with cameras

Inspired by the Color in Motion exhibition, families can think outside the box and explore one of the many different ways that filmmakers make experimental films! We will be using spirograph drawing tools, which consist of gears and wheels in stencils, to create geometrical designs like the art we see in the Color in Motion Experimental Film gallery.

Check back soon for upcoming workshop themes!

We encourage visitors to attend our weekly Family Matinees film series. A separate admission ticket is required.

The Education team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to create, learn, and have fun. If you have any questions or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org. ...

March of the Penguins in 35mm

Each year, at the end of the Antarctic summer, emperor penguins embark on a grueling journey in impossible temperatures to reach their breeding grounds for a traditional mating ritual. The biggest challenge comes after their eggs hatch, as the penguins take turns protecting their chicks while searching for nourishment, demonstrating their determination and resilience in caring for their young. March of the Penguins was four years in the making, with director Luc Jacquet and his crew spending a little over a year filming in Antarctica. Remarkably shot, underwater cameras were used to capture never-before-seen footage of penguins below the ocean’s surface.
