Be Bold! Be Brave! and Fearless Trailblazers Book Signing and Family Workshop

Join author Naibe Reynoso for a reading of her books Be Bold! Be Brave! and Fearless Trailblazers, which celebrate the accomplishments of Latinos who made US history. Followed by a family workshop in our Shirley Temple Education Studio.

The Academy Museum Education and Retail teams invite families to meet Naibe Reynoso, author of Be Bold! Be Brave! 11 Latinas who made U.S. History and Fearless Trailblazers: 11 Latinos who made U.S. History. 

Enjoy a reading and book signing by Naibe as she shares the stories of Rita Moreno and Lin-Manuel Miranda, who are highlighted in her books that celebrate Latinos who excelled in medicine, science, sports, the arts, journalism, and politics.    

Rita Moreno was the first Latina to win an Academy Award, for Best Supporting Actress for her role in West Side Story (1961). Lin-Manuel Miranda is a two-time Academy Award nominee for Best Original Song, in 2017 for “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana and in 2022 for “Dos Oruguitas” from Encanto

After the reading, books will be available on-site to purchase for signing. Join us after the reading and signing for a family workshop.  

Reading and workshop are free to attend with reserved tickets.  

A separate museum admission ticket is required to visit the galleries. Children 17 and under are free.

Bio 
Naibe Reynoso is a Mexican American multiple Emmy Award–winning journalist and author based in Los Angeles. She has worked and contributed to various regional, national, and international networks including CNN en Español, Univision, the Reelz channel, and France 24. 

Reynoso is the co-founder of LATINAfest LLC, an events company dedicated to building community and empowering Latinas. In 2018, she created Con Todo Press, an award-winning company that creates and publishes children’s books that celebrate Latino culture and highlight diverse leaders. She has also been published by Disney Press, and she adapted Disney’s Encanto for Little Golden Books.  

Currently, she is an anchor and reporter for the LA County Channel and producer and host for their Emmy-nominated show El Condado Contigo

She has served on the board of jurors for the Peabody Awards and is currently a board member for the Mexican American Cultural Education Foundation.
