Celebrating Home Movies at the Academy Museum

Long before phone cameras and social media, small-gauge film stock like 16mm, Super 8, and videotape made it possible for people to document their lives at home and abroad. The Academy Museum education team, in partnership with the Academy Film Archive, guides visitors through activations to connect with small-gauge filmmaking through an At-Home Projection Workshop, and the Tactile Filmmaking Workshop, where visitors will make a community created “cameraless” film.
