On weekend afternoons this fall, museum visitors can experience a curated selection of delightful animated short films from the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) in the state-of-the-art David Geffen Theater with the purchase of a general admission ticket.

Since 1939, the NFB has been the leading champion of independent film artists in Canada and the primary producer, co-producer, and distributor of Canadian content, responsible for producing over fifty moving image works each year. NFB projects have a long history of veneration at the Oscars, with 12 wins and over 75 nominations. This program features six short films—the earliest among them, Be Gone Dull Care (1949) and the most recent, Threads (2017)—showcasing various animation styles from a wide range of creators. Visitors can also experience Be Gone Dull Care in the museum’s gallery Inventing Worlds and Characters: Animation, on view on Level 3 of the Stories of Cinema exhibition.

This program is a collaboration between the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures and the National Film Board of Canada.

Advance ticket reservations are encouraged.
