Strawberry Mansion

Strawberry Mansion

Set in 2035, Kentucker Audley and Albert Birney’s idiosyncratic indie questions whether the subconscious is a commodity. In a future where dreams are documented and uploaded to be taxed according to their contents, dream auditor Preble (Audley) visits artist Bella (Penny Fuller) in her remote home and finds 2,000 VHS tapes—an outdated dream-capturing format—containing seven years of her dream records. With ethereal music by Baltimore-based recording artist Dan Deacon, uncanny art direction, and rough-hewn lo-fi effects, Strawberry Mansion transcends its sci-fi roots to delicately explore the permeability of waking life and dream states.
