Renzo Piano Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Los Angeles Conversation and Book Signing

Join the Academy Museum in welcoming architect Luigi Priano as he discusses the creation of the Academy Museum building and signs the book Renzo Piano Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Los Angeles.  

Luigi Priano co-led the teams who designed the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. Luigi will share the building process of the architecture firm Renzo Piano Building Workshop, in collaboration with Gensler, as they worked to design and build a museum that preserves and breathes new life into the former 1939 May Company department store, now re-named the Saban Building. Conversation will be moderated by Executive Vice President, Exhibitions, Shraddha Aryal.

He will sign the book Renzo Piano Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, Los Angeles, which documents the creation of the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, the world’s premier movie museum.

Bio: 
Born in 1983, Luigi Priano graduated in Architecture at the Facoltà di Architettura di Genova. He joined RPBW in 2011 to work initially on the Whitney Museum of American Art in New York, completed in 2015. As an Associate, together with Mark Carroll, he led the teams working on the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles completed in 2021 and the Whittle Schools & Studios campus in Washington D.C. completed in 2020. He is currently in charge of the SNF Agora Institute at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore and the Waterfront di Levante in Genoa. He became a Partner in 2021.
