Ready to Wear (Prêt-à-porter) in 35mm

Ready to Wear (Prêt-à-porter) in 35mm

Typical of director Robert Altman’s immersive style of ensemble filmmaking, and boasting a jam-packed cast of international stars, this underrated fashion world satire plunges deep into the dizzying hustle of Paris Fashion Week, the keys to which have just been handed to the stylish, recently widowed Isabella de la Fontaine (Sophia Loren). Alongside Lauren Bacall, Kim Basinger, Julia Roberts, Anouk Aimée, and longtime collaborator Marcello Mastroianni in his final American film role, Loren proves she’s lost none of her flair for comedy. Loren, plus the out-of-this-world 1990s fashion, and a soundtrack featuring Janet Jackson, Salt-N-Pepa, Björk, and The Cranberries, together are worth more than the price of admission.
