Gallery Spotlight: Stories of Cinema

Gallery Spotlight: Stories of Cinema

Complimentary with general museum admission, the Gallery Spotlight Series is a monthly conversation with featured guests.

The Education and Public Engagement team invites visitors to explore Stories of Cinema, the Academy Museum’s ongoing core exhibition that presents the diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers and the works they create.

Motion pictures, more commonly known as movies or films, are the world's most popular art form, encompassing many aspects of the visual and performing arts. Cinema refers to the art, technique, and business of making and exhibiting movies.

Stories of Cinema 1 is the first level of this immersive exhibition that travels from the very beginning of film history to the groundbreaking movies of the present day.

Join the Academy Museum in conversation with Senior Exhibitions Curator Jenny He as she discusses the conceptualization and creation of this introductory installation and its kaleidoscope of themes. She will also highlight how the museum’s robust mission is reflected in its core exhibition, Stories of Cinema.

The conversation will take place in Stories of Cinema 1 located on the first floor.

If you have any questions or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
