The Education and Public Engagement team invites visitors to explore Stories of Cinema, the Academy Museum’s ongoing core exhibition that presents the diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers and the works they create.

Special and visual effects are used in a majority of movies. They can be expertly woven into a scene, go unnoticed, or be distinctly grand in depicting otherworldly visages and mythical creatures.

Join the Academy Museum in conversation with Assistant Curator Nicolas Barlow as he discusses the Inventing Worlds and Characters: Effects gallery, where he will highlight the evolution of practical and visual effects and objects featured there.

The conversation will take place in the Netflix Lounge on Level. Visitors are encouraged to explore the Effects and Encounters galleries on Level 3 before or after the program.

If you have any questions or need assistance planning your visit, please email museumeducation@oscars.org.
