Join us for a conversation with director, writer, and producer Gregory Nava as he discusses the influences and impact on his creativity as a filmmaker as well as El Norte (1983).

Join the Academy Museum for a special conversation with director, writer, and producer Gregory Nava on his creative influences and their impact on his filmmaking journey as well as a look at the making ofEl Norte (1983). Nava will reflect on his inspirations featured in Stories of Cinema, the Academy Museum’s core exhibition represented in numerous galleries presenting the diverse, international, and complex stories of moviemakers and the works they create. 
 
About Gregory Nava    
From San Diego, California, Gregory Nava is a Mexican-American film director, writer, and producer. Two of his directorial works include 1983’s El Norte and 1997’s Selena, were added to the National Film Registry. Nava, along with Anna Thomas, were nominated for an Academy Award for screenwriting for El Norte (1983).  

 The conversation will take place in the Sidney Poitier Grand Lobby.
