Drop-In Workshop for Families: Animation

Drop-In Workshop for Families: Animation

Join us in the Shirley Temple Education Studio to make your own stop-motion animation!

The Education team invites families to join museum educators every month to be inspired by the museum’s exhibitions and screenings to create, learn, and have fun!

In celebration of Black History Month, we will be creating animation cels inspired by The Princess and the Frog (2009). Animation cels, or celluloids, are used in a traditional animation practice where the animator paints images on a clear sheet of plastic. They create many of these cels with minor changes and assemble them all to create movement. Eventually, those images become a movie. Families can create their own cel paintings and learn about this traditional animation process.
