Sound mixers solidify the soundscape of a film by deciding how sounds will relate to each other, as well as creating an immersive theater experience. Mixers blend and balance sounds and music together to make a soundscape, so all the sounds we hear work together in harmony and immerse us in a theater.

This workshop will consider: how is sound mixing different from the work of a sound editor? How do sound mixers compile sounds together for a film? How does surround sound create an immersive experience?

In this mixing-focused session, we will consider the relations that sounds have to each other on film. We will learn about how immersive sound formats create spaces, rooms, and atmospheres for movies, and then we will mix a film clip together!
