This epic thriller about a German U-Boat crew looks at World War II from the Axis side, presenting a gripping and immersive experience that ranks it among the greatest of all submarine movies. Jürgen Prochnow plays the captain of the U-96, facing peril amidst the Battle of the Atlantic. The film received six nominations, including Directing, Sound (Milan Bor, Trevor Pyke, Mike Le-Mare), and Sound Effects Editing (Le-Mare).
