Join us in conversation with Asians in Animation Founder and President Lexie Chu, LatinX In Animation Co-Founder and Co-Director Bryan Dimas, and Academy Museum Assistant Curator Nicholas Barlow as they explore the power of animated cinema, the creative freedom of animation, building community with fellow animators, and more.

The conversation will take place in the Netflix Lounge on Level 2. Visitors are encouraged to explore the animation exhibit in Stories of Cinema on Level 3 before or after the program and look at the schedule of upcoming animated films.

BIOS

Lexie Chu is currently at Skydance Animation as part of the Creative Development team, responsible for packaging talent, bridging the gap between story and business, and partnering hand-in-hand with filmmakers to elevate the full slate of original animated feature films and shorts on Apple TV+ and more coming soon to Netflix in 2024. Previously, Lexie worked on many beloved original features and series at Cartoon Network Studios, Illumination, and Netflix. In her first year at Netflix, Lexie founded and served as the first community leader of the Asians@ Netflix Animation employee resource group.

Lexie also champions inclusion on-screen, off-screen, and every day as the Founder and President of arts advocacy non-profit Asians in Animation. She oversees the development and cultivation of the memberbase's career growth across different career levels and develops new initiatives with her team to forge key partnerships to further studio career pathways for diverse talent and provide education with programs such as the Asians in Animation Career Summit.

In her free time, she is an active mentor in the animation community, mentoring with animation non-profits such as Women in Animation, jurying independent filmmaking grants, and consulting with other entertainment advocacy organizations and initiatives to build out their strategy and operations.

Bryan Dimas is an award-winning animation and live-action Producer, and advocate for DEI initiatives in the animation industry. He is the Founder of LatinX in Animation, where he develops and programs impactful industry initiatives and pipelines for underrepresented artists in the animation industry. He began his career at DreamWorks Animation where he contributed to projects that include The Boss Baby: Family Business, Trolls World Tour, and Guillermo Del Toro’s Trollhunters: Tales of Arcadia, and 3Below: Tales of Arcadia. He is currently a Line Producer at Warner Bros. Animation and Cartoon Network Studios. As an independent producer, he produced the 2021 award-winning short film Frank & Emmet, and the 2024 award-winning animated short film Remember Us.
