About the Exhibition
The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences honors excellence in filmmaking. Since 1929, its annual awards have celebrated artistic and technical achievements in cinema. Winners receive a golden statuette, known as an Oscar. The 97th Oscars ceremony will unfold in full glamour at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood on March 2, 2025.
For a limited time only, the Spielberg Family Gallery features historical and contemporary footage of past Oscars ceremonies sourced from the Academy Film Archive. The seven minute-montage features ceremony locations, red-carpet arrivals, acceptance speeches, performances, hosts, and special moments from nearly 100 years of Oscars history.
This gallery is free for all visitors.

More Oscars Season Programming at the Academy Museum
Leading up to this year’s ceremony, the Academy Museum is offering a season of public programming that includes panel discussions with nominated filmmakers, screenings of past Academy Award–winning films and this year’s nominated short films, guided gallery tours, and more.
Visit the galleries on Level 2 to view Oscar statuettes, memorabilia, iconic speeches, and Academy Awards fashion. Accept an Oscar of your own in The Oscars® Experience, an immersive environment that places you onstage with a real Oscar statuette, presented in the East West Bank Gallery.
The season culminates in the official Oscars® Watch Party on March 2, where guests can share in the local and global excitement about the Oscars in our very own state-of-the-art David Geffen Theater.
